Winter Activities with Kids in Denver

Fun Winter Activities with kids in Denver

I have two young kids myself and I really struggle to come up with Winter Activities to do with them. In Denver, it seems to be cold from about October to May and we get pretty tired of being cooped up in the house all Winter long. I have compiled this list of some fun and fairly inexpensive Winter activities to do with kids in the Denver area to help out my fellow moms.

1. The North Pole and Santa’s Workshop in Colorado Springs

This adorable little vintage amusement park just outside of Colorado Springs is actually open all year long, but for obvious reasons it is a ton of fun around Christmas time for the kiddos. The park features dozens of rides, sweet yummy treats for the kids, shopping and even a visit with Santa himself. To visit the park from November until the end of December; reservations are required ahead of time.

cost: $30 for 3 and up on peak days (Weekends in November and December) or free entry during non-peak days and $30 for a wrist band to ride amusement park rides

tips: dress in layers, weather changes quickly and this is mostly outdoors

2. Camp Christmas in Lakewood

This quirky display is so much fun for kids and adults alike. Venture through decades of Christmas decor with bright, colorful and fun features. Camp Christmas even has themed bars and sweet treats throughout the exhibit. Your kids can also meet Santa at Camp Christmas.

cost: $14 for general admission 3 and up. $24 to also meet Santa during your visit

3. Ice Skating Outdoors
There’s a few locations around the Denver area to go Ice Skating outdoors in the Winter months

Southlands Mall in Aurora

Pack the kids up in the car and head to Southlands Mall in Aurora for ice skating under twinkle lights. Open from November through February, The Pond at Southlands Mall offers ice skating both day and night. Located conveniently within walking distance of several different shops and restaurants, you can warm up with a hot drink after a few hours on the rink with the kids.

cost: $12

The Rink at Belmar in Lakewood

The Rink is open from November through January in Lakewood, CO for outdoor ice skating with the family.

cost: $10 adults and $8 children

Winterskate in Louisville

This outdoor rink is open from November until February. Ice skating is free for kids 3 and under at Winterskate.

cost: $10 or $13 on weekends and holidays

4. Christmas In Color in Aurora

Drive through millions of lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music you’ll hear right through your radio. Drive by giant candy canes, snowmen, arched pathways, and more. Snuggle up under a blanket and bring some homemade hot cocoa in the car for this fun-filled evening that doesn’t require being outdoors in the cold.

cost: $35 per vehicle

5. The Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo

A favorite in my family, the Zoo Lights are a stunning display of lights all around the Denver Zoo. Often, you can find the giraffes hanging out in their indoor exhibit and stop by to say hello. There’s festive drinks and ice carving demonstrations every night.

cost: $25 for adults and $15 for kids

6. Luminova Holidays at Elitch Gardens in Denver

Includes rides on limited attractions, millions of Christmas lights, huge 65 foot Christmas tree, and of course, Santa Claus.

cost: $25

I hope that you found something for you and your kiddos to do this Winter! I know my kids and I will be hitting several of these this Winter season.
